About Virginia
Located 10 kilometres north of Brisbane’s CBD, Virginia has a population of 2209 and an area of 3.0km2. Formed in 1888, Virginia was mainly farmland but began to be colonised thanks to the North Coast rail line, which still dissects the suburb today.
A suburb of ‘2 halves’, Virginia is split down the middle by Sandgate Road, with most residential housing being located in the southern end of the suburb, on either side of the main road. Along the western side of Sandgate Road are many large ‘superstores’ including Office Works, Bunnings, Super A Mart, Rebel Sport and many others.
Many of the residents of Virginia are families with children and young professionals.
