Location

Located 7 kilometres north of Brisbane’s CBD, Wavell Heights is a small, family-friendly suburb that has been growing in popularity over recent years. Situated between 2 major roads in and out of Brisbane, Gympie road to the west and Sandgate road to the east,  this cosy, hilly suburb currently has a population of 9,359 which gives it a small village feel while providing easy access to the conveniences of living in a major city. There are also 3 main roads which run east-west: Rode road, Hamilton road, and Edinburg Castle road.

Originally it was known as West Nundah but after the westward expansion in land development became Wavell Heights and extended southwards from Downfall Creek to Kedron Brook. Located less than 1km  away from the railway station at Nundah, by World War II (1939-1945) almost all residences were already built up with few single family homes remaining today.

The suburb’s medium age of 34 years is slightly lower than Australia’s national average and just over half of the homes in Wavell Heights are families with children.

There are a variety of private and public schools to choose from in the area including Corpus Christi, St Anthony’s Primary, Wavell Heights Primary and Wavell Heights High School.

Considered an inner-northern Brisbane suburb, Wavell Heights is an easy drive up Gympie Road from Brisbane’s CBD.
